Chevrolet Service 101: Changing a Tire
If you have ever looked under your car’s hood, you may have immediately been confused about what you were seeing. The inner workings of vehicles can be rather mysterious for many people.
Fortunately, when it comes to certain fixes, you don’t need to have a lot of (or really any) experience working on cars to take care of them. Changing a flat tire is a good example. Learn how easy this is to do, courtesy of our Chevrolet service center:
What You Need to Change a Tire
You just need three things in order to change a flat tire: a jack, lug wrench, and spare. (If you only have a spare, you’ll need a phone to call your auto club.)
How to Change the Tire
The first step is to take the lug wrench and loosen the lug nuts. Make sure they stay on, however, Next, put the jack under a strong section of your car’s frame and turn the handle counterclockwise to jack it up several inches.
Now, remove the lug nuts, line up the holes with the new tire, and put the lug nuts back on. Next, turn the jack handle counter-clockwise to lower the car to get the tire back on the ground. Finally, tighten the lug nuts until they are nice and snug. That’s it.
Make Sure to Pick Up a New Spare
While you’ll be good to go for a while, you definitely don’t want to forget about picking up another spare tire. To do this, just get in touch with the parts department at Patriot Chevy Warminster. In addition to getting this tire for you, our service center can rotate the ones on your car to last longer, or give your car any other service it may need.
