5 SIGNS IT’S TIME FOR AN OIL CHANGE
Are you wondering if it’s time to schedule a routine service appointment? Some service tasks can be tedious or time-consuming, but not a Chevy oil change. Here are five signs it’s time to schedule an oil change at Patriot Chevy of Warminster.
1. Mileage
If it’s been a while since your last oil change, it might be time to schedule another. Check your odometer to see how many miles have passed since the last time you changed your oil. We recommend getting an oil change every 3,000 to 6,000 miles, but a more exact number can be found in your owner’s manual.
2. Oil Change Light
When it’s time for an oil change, this light will illuminate on your dashboard. Typically, this is the final warning sign you will receive to change your oil. Make a point to check for any changes in your vehicle’s performance to prevent this light from illuminating.
3. Louder-Than-Normal Engine
Your engine can be quite loud, but if you notice that it’s louder than usual while you’re driving, you might need to change your oil. Dirtier oil isn’t able to lubricate your engine very well, which will cause the parts to grind together, creating abnormal sounds.
4. Low Oil Level
Over time, your oil levels will begin to decrease the more often you drive. Keep an eye on your oil reserve so your levels don’t get too low, as extremely low oil levels could produce a seized-up engine.
5. Spotting Particulates
If you happen to take a look at your engine and notice metal particles in your motor oil, you might have internal engine damage. If you notice that your oil is milky in color or there are any particles, you may need a diagnosis from our Chevy service team.
