Are you shopping for a midsize SUV and can’t decide which one to go with? We’ve got you covered. This guide briefly compares the 2023 Chevy Traverse and Toyota Highlander so you can see how they match up in two key areas.

Power

If you’re looking for a mighty SUV, the Chevy Traverse is it. It comes with a 3.6-liter V6 engine that produces 310 horsepower, routed through a nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive as an option.

The Toyota Highlander has a much weaker engine. It’s a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder mill that offers 265 horsepower. It’s mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive comes standard, and all-wheel drive is available.

Space

The Chevy Traverse has a huge cabin that accommodates up to eight people. Every seat is spacious, and even adults won’t mind sitting in the third row. This SUV also has an immense amount of cargo room: 23 cubic feet behind the third row, 57.8 cubic feet when it’s down, and a total of 98.2 cubic feet with both rear rows folded.

While the Toyota Highlander can also fit eight people, the third row is cramped and best left to children. As for cargo space, it pales in comparison: 16 cubic feet behind the third row, 48.4 cubic feet when folded, and 84.3 cubic feet with all back seats down.
